Up until recently, a stray dog had been lingering in front of the office of an insurance brokerage in the town of Acacias, Colombia. Staff at the office offered the dog food and water — and they eventually came to learn his sad story.
“He used to have a family, but they left [for another city],” Mariana, a spokesperson for the brokerage, told The Dodo. “They couldn’t take him with them, so he was left alone.”
But the poor pup, named Toby, wouldn’t be lonely forever.
Earlier this month, staff at the brokerage bore witness to a heartwarming scene.
A local traffic cop was seen pulling up to the curb on her motorcycle, nearby to where Toby usually sits. Seeing her, the dog approached excitedly, wagging his tail at her offer of affection.
After a few moments of consideration, the transit cop then hailed a cab — instructing the driver to take the dog to her home.
Just like that, she’d adopted him:
According to staff at the brokerage, the transit cop’s name is Sandra. She’s a local animal lover, who actually had met Toby when he was still with his family.
One night, he’d run away from home, and Sandra had taken him in.
And now she’s keeping him for good.
In an act of kindness caught on camera, Toby’s life had changed forever.
