What the veterinarians discovered was shocking – Angelo could barely move because his stomach was full of stones. In his desperate hunger, he had resorted to eating them to survive.
At the shelter, Angelo couldn’t eat or relieve himself because his belly was so distended with the stones. While surgery was performed to remove them, his recovery would not be easy.
Hanan, from the Furever Rescue Foster organization, went above and beyond to save Angelo’s life. The surgery was expensive and required a long recovery, prompting her to ask for help on social media.

Justin Finning and his wife, Deborah, saw Angelo’s heart-wrenching photo. Despite the distance from their home, they were determined to aid in his rescue.
This was not the Finning couple’s first time rescuing a Great Dane. With over three decades of experience in fostering dogs with special needs, they felt compelled to get involved in Angelo’s case.
Traveling to aid Angelo was not initially possible due to his medical condition, so with Hanan, the couple organized a fundraiser to cover his treatment costs.

Angelo’s care didn’t stop at surgery. He needed physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and a specialized diet, all adding up to significant expenses.
Thanks to the generosity and determination of everyone involved, Angelo received the care he needed. The surgery was successful, but Angelo required time to regain his strength before he could travel to his new home.

Justin and Deborah were steadfast in supporting Angelo’s complete recovery. With regular therapy sessions, over the course of months, Angelo bloomed into his best self.
No longer timid or withdrawn, Angelo is now a vibrant and happy dog who delights in being the center of attention. With a spacious backyard to play in and family outings to the beach, Angelo is truly living his best life.
One of the greatest joys in Angelo’s new life is the company of three other dogs, making every day an adventure filled with joy and love. May Angelo enjoy a long and happy life, surrounded by care and new experiences. He truly deserves it!
